Be Open to What Can Be

This month has been all about being open to what can be. So often, we go after what we want with full-on commitment—which is a beautiful thing. But if you find yourself constantly pushing, it’s simply not sustainable. Burnout becomes the outcome, not the success you’re seeking. And perhaps more importantly, that kind of relentless focus can actually limit the opportunities that are trying to come your way.

This month was all about “Being Open to What Can Be.” So many of us go after what we are looking for with full on commitment which is great. However, if you find that you are pushing all the time it is not sustainable burnout is what you get rather than the success you are seeking. And honestly doing that often limits the opportunities that come your way.

In the first podcast of the month, I spoke about “Committing to the action, releasing the outcome.”

Here are some of the key takeaways:

There is Power in Releasing the Outcome: Shifting your focus from specific outcomes to purposeful actions can free you from the stress of rigid expectations. This mindset not only reduces pressure but also creates space for unexpected and rewarding opportunities, transforming how you approach both challenges and successes.

Transforming Setbacks into Strategic Insights: Perceived failures are, in fact, your greatest assets on the path to higher success. Each setback provides valuable data and insights of course correction. By detaching self-worth from specific outcomes, you can maintain emotional resilience and strategic clarity.

Shift your perspective to: Commit to Action, Stay Open to Outcomes.

In the second podcast of the month guest Kevin Eikenberry shares his story of being raised on a farm and is now the owner of a national company.

Context is everything! Consider the backstory; it could change your entire perspective. Kevin Eikenberry reminds us that understanding context makes us smarter and more effective leaders. Pause and reflect; you might discover a different truth.

Life and leadership exist in the "gray area," not just in black and white. Kevin talks about the importance of embracing “both” rather than either/or, highlighting the complexity of life and leadership. This concept encourages flexibility and adaptability, which is crucial for effective decision-making, problem-solving, and career advancement.

Embrace the journey! Let's navigate life's complexities with an open mind and a flexible heart.

As I was writing this, I was reminded of that wonderful quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Life is a Journey, Not a Destination.”

I wish you many, what I call, Open Door Moments. Those opportunities that appear seemingly out of nowhere that can change the trajectory of your life. They are there for all of us, the question is, are you looking, are you leaving room to be surprised?

I hope so❣️
