What does Love & Whiskey have to do with Self-Care? Probably not what you are thinking, but I promise you there is a connection.
This month, the focus of our 360-degree view of you and your wellness is:
❣️Your Physical Health❣️
I had the opportunity to hear Fawn Weaver speak at a ChiefX event in DC. [Fawn: is the first non-celebrity Black American woman to found and lead a billion-dollar enterprise.]
She is a force to be reckoned with, to be sure. I am unsure what I expected, but I am here to tell you I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to hear her speak.
She is a living example of self-care. I will share some of the mic drop moments with you here so you, too, can benefit from her wisdom.
“When I work, I work hard, and I am able to do so
because of how I care for myself.”
Fawn Weaver
- She gets 8 hours of sleep every night – and I mean every night.
- She has sabbath time (not in the religious sense, but in the honoring herself way) to ensure her self-care is not compromised.
- Her work is calendared AROUND her sabbath time. NOT the other way around.
- Everyone in her company knows these non-negotiable values, and she encourages them to do the same.
- Stand your ground. Don’t let others dictate what you can do, achieve, or experience. NEVER let someone dim your light. This is also a form of self-care.
As I walked out of the auditorium, I began to see ways that some of my actions do not support my being the best me I can be. Fawn says she has to be her best and can’t do that if she doesn’t get enough rest, stay hydrated, eat a balanced diet, and have consistent physical activity/
I realized that being clear, strong, and committed to the depth of self-care she exhibits every day not only promotes physical health but also boosts energy levels, enhances mood, and improves overall quality of life.
Do you have any non-negotiables that you honor fostering great physical health?
I can tell you I have some new non-negotiables that I have put in place and have also let my team know.
What is one thing you can do to uplevel your physical health?
I’m sending you all energy of clarity, courage, and compassion to care for yourself as fiercely as Fawn Weaver.
