Amanda Hawkins is a retired Commander of the United States Navy, and founder and CEO of Ursus USA and Friendly Minds. She has received numerous personal and unit awards for her work, including the 2018 Captain Joy Bright Hancock Award for Inspirational Leaders. In this week’s episode, Amanda shares a powerful story about our conscious and unconscious anchors that either allow us to set sail towards great success and fulfillment or hold us back.

Amanda Hawkins is the founder and CEO of Friendly Minds (an educational consulting company) and Ursus USA (an innovation and human centered design company) and a retired U.S. Navy Commander. Before starting her businesses, Amanda served in various operational and staff roles in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Flight Officer. Her final operational tour was in command of a maritime and patrol reconnaissance aircraft squadron operating the P-8A Poseidon in Europe engaging in sea control and power projection alongside our allies and partners.

During her time in the Navy she participated in several combat and peacekeeping operations across the globe. She is married to a fellow Navy Officer, and is the proud mother of two strong willed children.
