In this episode I sat down with Dr. Douglas Jowdy, licensed psychologist and author of The Gold Medal Mind. He shares his story of taking adverse life experiences and the lessons they offered him to build a successful life beyond what he could have imagined.
Dr. Jowdy specializes in sports psychology and other areas in clinical psychology. He worked for the US Olympic Committee and served as the team psychologist for the US speedskating. Apolo Ohno has written about his work with Dr. Jowdy in his autobiography Zero Regrets: Be Greater Than Yesterday.
Being a professional athlete was very important to him and the big lessons that have come to him on that journey are valuable and transferable to us all.
